Codex Alimentarius Commission
India recorded milestones at the 49th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC49) in Geneva, Switzerland. CAC is the international food standards-setting body, established in May 1963 under a joint FAO-WHO initiative, headquartered in Rome. It aims to protect consumers’ health and ensure fair food trade practices. Membership covers FAO/WHO members; CAC has 189 members (188 countries, EU). India joined in 1964.
